FAGNANO, Giuseppe. – Nato a Rocchetta Tanaro (Asti) il 9 marzo 1844
da Bernardo e Maddalena Pero, contadini di una certa agiatezza, fu avviato per gli studi ginnasiali e la carriera ecclesiastica nel seminario vescovile di Asti, dove fece la vestizione chiericale nel novembre 1855. Nel 1858, data l’esiguità numerica di allievi, il seminario venne chiuso e i chierici furono rimandati alle loro case o affidati ad altri istituti.
