In questo semplice e modesto lavoro, tra le varie possibilità di scelta, ho pensato di esaminare la percezione della figura di don Bosco nel Lazio, soprattutto nel mondo laico.

L’incontro con don Bosco agì in don Guanella come catalizzatore della sua formazione, come orientamento nella definizione della sua personalità e della sua missione, e divenne contenuto stabile della sua memoria.

Servendomi di una bibliografia limitata a qualche biografia e a poche fonti già edite, anzitutto ho cercato di cogliere come fondatore o la fondatrice siano venuti in contatto con la figura, l’opera, il pensiero e la spiritualità di don Bosco.

La pubblicazione della prima biografia di don Bosco nel 1883 nei paesi di lingua tedesca suscitò un vivace interesse verso la sua persona e la sua opera. Con la pubblicazione nel 1895 del “Bollettino Salesiano” in edizione tedesca “Salesianische Nachrichten” l’opera di don Bosco e dei Salesiani conobbe larga diffusione.

In questo contributo intendiamo esplorare in che modo l’immagine di don Bosco si è sviluppata nel periodo 1879-1934. Partiamo da una breve evocazione storica circa il modo in cui il nome di don Bosco si è diffuso nel Belgio. Successivamente esamineremo come si è sviluppata nella stampa la presentazione di don Bosco.

This article looks at the first thirty years of the presence and implantation of the Salesian charism on the soil of North-East India. The first group of six FMA missionaries disembarked in this region on 8 December 1923. During the span of time under consideration, there were eight foundations of which seven were in the North-East and one in West Bengal.

This paper, which investigates the first thirty years of the history of the Thai FMA Province of “St Mary Mazzarello” through the lived experience of is members from the first batch of missionaries who came to Siam in 1931 to the 14th group in 1961, takes on added significance in the context of the celebration of the 75 years of FMA presence in Thailand two years ago and our present project of completing the chronicles of the Province.
