In questo semplice e modesto lavoro, tra le varie possibilità di scelta, ho pensato di esaminare la percezione della figura di don Bosco nel Lazio, soprattutto nel mondo laico.

Lo scopo di questa indagine era quello di vedere come l’editoria laica attraverso un periodo temporale che copre una trentina o poco più di anni, dal 1920 fino agli anni ’50, ha presentato la figura di don Bosco ai ragazzi e ai giovani e quali erano gli aspetti del santo educatore che maggiormente emergevano dalla lettura dei libri per ragazzi non di editoria salesiana.

The present paper, a textual elaboration of the power-point presented at the Batulao Seminar, tries to re-capture the salient moments in the history of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (FMA) in Timor (and Indonesia) from their arrival up to the present day. Our presence in this land is rather recent considering that we arrived in Timor only in 1988.

This paper, which investigates the first thirty years of the history of the Thai FMA Province of “St Mary Mazzarello” through the lived experience of is members from the first batch of missionaries who came to Siam in 1931 to the 14th group in 1961, takes on added significance in the context of the celebration of the 75 years of FMA presence in Thailand two years ago and our present project of completing the chronicles of the Province.

Para este estudio hemos acudido de un modo especial al Epistolario de Don Rua, tomando como fuente principal el DVD ROM “Documenti di don Rua”, elaborado por el Comitato di Studi Storici Don Rua 2010, más las cartas originales de Don Rua que reposan en el Archivo Histórico Inspectorial del Ecuador y otras fuentes anexas relativas como “Lettere Circolari di Don Michele Rua ai Salesiani” y otras fuentes señaladas en la bibliografía. Dovendo venire in Toscana e a Firenze, implorato dall’Arcivescovo e dalla Commissione della Società Cattolica Operaia, per precisare i termini della reciproca collaborazione a favore dell’opera impiantata già dal 6 marzo 1881 in Via Cimabue, don Bosco vuole accanto don Rua, già presentendo in cuore che trattare con i fiorentini non fosse cosa agevole, e da notizie e informazioni giunte da amici di Firenze, deducendo l’incertezza dei termini e la necessità di fare chiarezza sul perché i Salesiani erano venuti a Firenze e sulle condizioni del loro rimanere. The aim of this article is to present the beginning of the work of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians in Thailand. The FMA came to Thailand invited by Fr. Gaetano Pasotti, Acting Provincial of the Salesian Congregation and later the fust Salesian Bishop in Thailand, to help in the mission field of the Salesian Fathers who arrived in Thailand on October 1927 , after they were sent away from China.
