Il numero unico, che NPG dedica al centenario, si snoda nel riconoscimento e accettazione del carisma che è don Bosco per la società e per la chiesa, si apre alla riattualizzazione per l’oggi di questo dono. Come impegno per i Salesiani, come proposta per chi opera e crede nell’educazione della gioventù.
La maggior parte degli articoli che segue tratta da vari aspetti l’urgenza di leggere, con gli occhi della fede e il filtro del vangelo, le sfide che la pastorale giovanile oggi deve incontrare. Come riusciamo a dare un nome a queste sfide, e il bisogno di offrire delle proposte profetiche.

Il quinto colloquio sulla vita salesiana si è tenuto a Lussemburgo dal 26 al 30 agosto 1973. Fece seguito ad analoghe assemblee riunitesi a partire dal 1968 successivamente a Lione, Benediktbeuern (Baviera), Barcellona e Leggiuno (Varese). Per la prima volta vi hanno preso parte non solamente dei Salesiani, ma anche delle Figlie di Maria Ausiliatrice, delle Volontarie di Don Bosco e dei Cooperatori salesiani, con un totale di trentanove persone, tutte di riconosciuta competenza e appartenenti a diverse nazioni dell’Europa centrale e occidentale.
La pubblicazione degli Atti, con i documenti che ne fanno parte, rende ufficiali gli orientamenti assunti e segna il punto di partenza del sessennio 2008-2014.
Il tema del CG26 è unitario, anche se articolato in nuclei tematici. A prima vista può sembrare che il CG26 abbia trattato di cinque argomenti diversi; in realtà si tratta di un unico tema: il programma di vita spirituale e apostolica di Don Bosco. Il Capitolo Generale Speciale, per dare sostanza e fondamento al Rinnovamento richiesto dalla Chiesa e per tanti aspetti imposto dalla profonda evoluzione avvenuta nella società, ha voluto rivedere in profondità la nostra identità alla luce delle realtà di oggi, secondo le direttive della Chiesa Conciliare. Questo Capitolo è stato un grande evento spirituale ecclesiale e salesiano di straordinaria importanza nella storia della nostra famiglia, un fatto di larghissima collaborazione responsabile. Guardando indietro, mi pare di poter dire che, malgrado le deficienze, le debolezze e gli errori, frutti dei limiti dell’uomo, il nostro Capitolo è stato permeato di Spirito Santo.
