For the beginning of our centennial celebration we are gathered together here as a family in the place where the Salesians established their first presence in the United States of America. When we compare our present- day situation with that at the moment of our arrival we find much for which we must be grateful to God.

Through his travels, he has gained first-hand knowledge, albeit incomplete, of the Salesian presence in various nations worldwide. Ai maestri, agli assistenti, ai capi di laboratorio il Venerabile Padre fa appello, mostrando quanto anch’essi possano giovare, perchè regni la moralità nelle case. Il buon Padre, con particolare unzione inculca a tutti i suoi figli di regolare la loro condotta in modo che nessuno degli alunni o dipendenti loro possa gettar in faccia il noto proverbio: medice, cura te ipsum.
