La publicación de cada número de las Actas del Consejo General es una magnífica ocasión para encontrarme con cada uno de vosotros. En esta ocasión, reclama nuestra atención un importante evento de familia, cual es la celebración del Centenario del inicio del Instituto de las Voluntarias de Don Bosco. Los días 20 y 21 de mayo, en Valdocco, acompañadas por tantos de nosotros, representantes de los 31 grupos de Familia Salesiana, nuestras hermanas, y nosotros con ellas, pudimos celebrar la gran fiesta centenaria.
In these pages I would like to reflect on youth ministry with a special focus on family. I hope that, by the end of this reflection no one could say that most of the considerations made were on family ministry rather than on youth ministry.
The document that now reaches all confreres through this publication is subtitled “Post-Chapter reflection” and not “Chapter documents”, as has customarily been the case in the past. This is because the Chapter Assembly did not arrive at the point of final approval of the text by vote. Only a few Chapter deliberations, especially those of a legal nature, saw the light of day during the first four weeks of our work. Don Bosco claimed that the motto Da mihi animas cetera tolle came from Francis de Sales, and we Salesians presume that this was the cherished phrase that the saintly Bishop of Geneva claimed for his own. Don Bosco’s Oratory of St. Francis de Sales after much “wandering” found its permanent home at last in 1846, in an isolated house and property located in the district of Valdocco, on the northern fringe of the city of Turin. Once settled in that little house, Don Bosco established there a home to shelter the most destitute among the lads attending the oratory (1847). Le 24 mai 2018 à Turin, lors de la session plénière du Conseil Général des Salésiens, le Rettor Maggiore annonce la préparation du prochain Chapitre Général (CG 28).
En janvier 2006, mon prédécesseur, le P. Pascual Chávez Villanueva, alors Recteur Majeur des Salésiens, a présenté l’Étrenne 2006 intitulée “Et Jésus grandissait en sagesse, en taille et en grâce” (Lc 2,52), invitant la Famille Salésienne à renouveler son engagement envers les familles, suivant ainsi l’invitation du Pape Jean-Paul II pour la défense de la vie à travers la famille.
Ce temps de service en tant que Recteur Majeur m’a permis de mieux connaître et d’aimer encore plus la Congrégation et notre Famille Salésienne.
L’extrait discute du Jubilé Extraordinaire de la Miséricorde proclamé par le Pape François, soulignant son importance pour l’Église. Ce Jubilé, débuté le 8 décembre 2015 et clôturé le 20 novembre 2016, invite les croyants à contempler le mystère de la miséricorde divine, source de joie et de paix.
