Don Bosco has established relationships with Catholic associations not only in Italy, but also abroad: in Spain and France. The author of this essay focuses in particular on his trip to Spain and on the visit to the Catholic Association of Barcelona.
This paper outlines the reasons that led to the clash between Don Bosco and the Archbishop of Turin, Lorenzo Gastaldi, between 1871 and 1883. Nel presente saggio vengono delineati i motivi che hanno portato allo scontro fra Don Bosco e l’arcivescovo di Torino, Lorenzo Gastaldi, fra il 1871 e il 1883.
Don Bosco in his book “Ecclesiastical History” talks about the Church and the World and their bond, which over the centuries has been very tortuous. Unlike the “fundamentalist” conservatives, Don Bosco had a clear vision of the reality that surrounded him and this awareness was not due to his studies in the historical field, but to his ability to know how to read the present.

Il mio contributo si limita ad evidenziare alcune delle linee emergenti dalle relazioni presentate al Simposio sulla Vita di Domenico Savio scritta da don Bosco. Sono aspetti che «emergono» dai diversi interventi, non solo quelli «costanti». Ciò significa che, se alcune delle linee indicate sono riscontrabili in quasi tutti gli interventi, e quindi sono anche linee «costanti», altre sono emerse una sola volta oppure non sono affiorate per nulla, ma possono essere coerentemente dedotte dagli interventi.
Juan M. Laboa in his paper focuses mainly on Don Bosco’s image of the Church, the only place where the teachings of Jesus are preserved in their entirety. Don Bosco believed that this Church (and not the Protestant one) is the only one that can bring people closer to God and that instilling love and devotion to the Pope helps to counter religious sects and dissidents. In the end, in chapter 5 the author reserves a reflection on the relationship between Pope Pius I and Don Bosco. Il seguente elaborato analizza gli articoli inerenti alle Costituzioni dei SDB, focalizzandosi di quanto sia indispensabile nella preghiera salesiana l’orazione mentale. Facendo riferimento ad altre scuole di meditazione della tradizione della Chiesa si mettono in luce alcune difficoltà pratiche.
