The topic of professional formation within the Salesian world is to be read in the light of the early experience of Don Bosco. One will not understand either the vision or the value of Salesian professional training as a whole if one overlooks this fundamental phase which Don Bosco lived and was able to help germinate and blossom.

The Salesians, who have been applying the Preventive System since the time of their Don Bosco, have understood it mostly as a method of education. However, when we re-read the Preventive System from the perspective of rights, we realize that it is a Child Rights friendly system. We see ingrained in it many of the Child Rights.

The following four-part article has as its objective a particular aspect of Don Bosco’s charism: the spiritual accompaniment of the young. This theme, which is very relevant for today, is significant since it is fundamental to Don Bosco’s educational system and it is a characteristic of us Salesians, as accompaniers of the young.
This study of Don Bosco in a perspective of organizational virtues is intended to be in a circular hermeneutic relation with the present period of transformation in which the Salesians of Don Bosco find themselves.
MaryJo Leddy explained that in her act of accompaniment with many of the young adults assisting in her ministry to the refugees, she found herself taking a lead from them. She has found a voice of conscience and concern in this generation. She is touched by their thirst and hunger for holiness and authenticity.
In the course of the exposition so far it often appeared that one of the doubtless objectives of assistance, consists in preventing evil, disorders, and especially what Don Bosco summarily calls “offending God.”
The theme of this reflection, entitled: “Encounter of the Salesian Charism: South Asian Context, is self-explanatory. Drawing out its implications, the topic can be articulated in three focal points, implied in the very title, that is, “Salesian charism,” “South Asia,” and finally, the issue of the “Encounter…”.

Linda Pocher sviluppa l’immaginario mariano di don Bosco. Raccontando i suoi sogni mariani, don Bosco consente di intuire il suo rapporto intimo con Maria, sentita come madre benigna che incoraggia, che esorta a proseguire l’opera educativa, che fa balenare un avvenire migliore. Stefano Mazzer accosta una delle testimonianze più preziose che abbiamo circa l’origine dell’Oratorio e della Congregazione. Chiamandole “visite”, don Bosco stesso allude alla loro eccedenza rispetto a un semplice evento onirico e lascia intendere che debbano essere accostate come vere e proprie “visioni immaginative” che l’hanno accompagnato nei momenti più delicati e decisivi della sua fondazione. La quinta di queste visite ha conosciuto un suo particolare sviluppo ed è stata tramandata come sogno del pergolato di rose. He then presents an interesting insight on the Good Shepherd image on the Salesian cross received by those who take their perpetual vows within the Congregation.
