Estrella Castalone – “The daughters of Mary help of Christians in the Philippines” in “L’educazione salesiana in Europa negli anni difficili del XX secolo”

After the permission from the General Council was obtained, Sr. Catherine Moore, delegate of the Provincial Superior, left Hongkong for the Philippines on 1° December 1955 with Sr. Erminia Borzini to make the necessary preparations.

Thus, the first house of the FMA in the Philippines was formally opened by the frst Sisters on 8 December 1955 in Victorias, Negros Occidental. The Chronicles of the House started precisely on that day with the significant entry: “Today, with the help of our heavenly Motheq we begin our work in this land…our small community is made up of Sr. Josephine Gallo, Sr. Ligia Borges and Sr. Erminia Borzini-the Superior of the community….” (Chronicles ofCasa Sacro Cuore, Victorias, December 1955).

Ottenuto il permesso del Consiglio Generale, Sr. Catherine Moore, delegata della Superiora Provinciale, ha lasciato Hong Kong per le Filippine il 1° dicembre 1955 con suor Erminia Borzini per realizzare i preparativi necessari. Nasce così la prima casa delle FMA nelle Filippine fu aperta ufficialmente dalle prime suore l’8 dicembre 1955 a Victorias, Negros occidentale. Le Cronache della Casa sono iniziate proprio in quel giorno con quell’entrata significativa:
“Oggi, con l’aiuto del nostro celeste Motheq, iniziamo il nostro lavoro in questa terra…la nostra piccola comunità è composta da Sr. Josephine Gallo, Sr. Ligia Borges e Sr. Erminia Borzini-la Superiora della comunità….” (Cronache di Casa Sacro Cuore, Victorias, dicembre 1955)
