This article delves into the nascent years of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (FMA) in Thailand from 1931 to 1952. Invited by Fr. Gaetano Pasotti, the Acting Provincial of the Salesian Congregation and later the first Salesian Bishop in Thailand, the FMA responded to the call to assist in the mission field initiated by the Salesian Fathers in 1927.
Mother Luisa Vaschetti, the Superior General, accepted the invitation, guided by the belief that Thailand held promise for the Sisters’ mission and apostolate. The article aims to shed light on the challenges, sacrifices, and pivotal moments faced by the first-generation Sisters as they laid the groundwork for the enduring works that flourish today. This historical exploration offers insights into the early struggles and triumphs that marked the FMA’s contribution to the mission and apostolate in Thailand.
