How has Don Bosco’s Preventive System been transformed, 150 years after Don Bosco, across different contexts around the world? Which values, practices, and forms of language keep its original intuition alive, and how is it expressed within diverse cultures and societies? From these questions arises the international project “Rethinking Salesian Education” (2025–2027), promoted by the Pontifical Salesian University and the Pontifical Faculty of Educational Sciences Auxilium, in close collaboration with the General Councils of the SDB and FMA. The project aims to reinterpret and revitalize Salesian pedagogical thought at the level of the Salesian Family, in light of the processes of intercultural and late-modern transformation that characterize contemporary society.

Pietro Braido – “Prospects for future research on Don Bosco” in “Don Bosco’s place in history”

Fausto Jimenez – Don Bosco and the cultivation of ecclesiastical and religious vocations in «Don Bosco’s place in history»
The present essay emphasizes Don Bosco’s dedication to promoting vocations, both among men and women. The Saint also dealt with “late” vocations, not only those among young people. For him it was of fundamental importance to find a sufficient number of priests/nuns to meet the needs of the observants.
