Questa sintetica presentazione del tema che intendiamo svolgere è esigita dalla finalità che ci prefiggiamo di illustrare, quella cioè di comprendere il significato della presenza delle scuole professionali dei Salesiani a Roma.

The present paper, after having presented the Northeastern region of India with its various challenges, and indicating the missionary efforts in the region before the coming of the Salesians will proceed to assert that the name “Don Bosco” was from the very beginning associated with change and societal transformation realized through education and that it continues to be regarded as such to this day.

In questo contributo intendiamo esplorare in che modo l’immagine di don Bosco si è sviluppata nel periodo 1879-1934. Partiamo da una breve evocazione storica circa il modo in cui il nome di don Bosco si è diffuso nel Belgio. Successivamente esamineremo come si è sviluppata nella stampa la presentazione di don Bosco.

This article looks at the first thirty years of the presence and implantation of the Salesian charism on the soil of North-East India. The first group of six FMA missionaries disembarked in this region on 8 December 1923. During the span of time under consideration, there were eight foundations of which seven were in the North-East and one in West Bengal.

How the Salesian Charism has been implanted and taken root in a country is indeed a very interesting and at the same time a very challenging theme. In the case of Viet Nam the planting and the growing processes seem to be neatly cut, surrounded by the turbulent events of the history of modern Viet Nam.
