The aim of this article is to present the beginning of the work of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians in Thailand. The FMA came to Thailand invited by Fr. Gaetano Pasotti, Acting Provincial of the Salesian Congregation and later the fust Salesian Bishop in Thailand, to help in the mission field of the Salesian Fathers who arrived in Thailand on October 1927 , after they were sent away from China.
“I am sure”, said the Bishop to the Superiors, “this country is going to be a beautiful field of work and apostolate also for our Sisters”. Mother Luisa Vaschetti, the Superior General, accepted the invitation. Some important particulars, the difficulties and the sacrifices the Sisters of the first generation had to undergo in order to give a good start to the works we enjoy nowadays will be briefly recalled in this work.
Lo scopo di questo articolo è presentare l’inizio dell’opera delle Figlie di Maria Ausiliatrice in Thailandia. Le fma sono venute in Thailandia invitate da p. Gaetano Pasotti, Ispettore vicario della Congregazione Salesiana e poi primo Vescovo salesiano in Thailandia, per aiutare nel campo della missione i Padri Salesiani giunti in Thailandia nell’ottobre 1927, dopo essere stati allontanati dalla Cina. “Sono sicuro”, ha detto il Vescovo alle Superiori, “questo Paese sarà un bel campo di lavoro e di apostolato anche per le nostre sorelle”. Madre Luisa Vaschetti, Superiora Generale, ha accettato l’invito. In quest’opera verranno brevemente ricordati alcuni particolari importanti, le difficoltà e i sacrifici che le suore della prima generazione dovettero subire per dare un buon inizio alle opere di cui oggi godiamo.
