Josip Gregur – La musica “anima” del carisma salesiano in “Sviluppo del carisma di Don Bosco fino alla metà del secolo XX. Atti del Congresso internazionale di Storia Salesiana Roma, 19-23 novembre 2014”

Tra i valori essenziali la musica, sebbene oggi presente in ogni settore della società,
di certo non occupa il primo posto nella vita dell’uomo, come la salute, il lavoro, le relazioni interpersonali e sociali. Come un valore culturale, una realtà ideale, la musica nella civilizzazione materialistica frequentemente risulta trascurabile. Essa si percepisce come mezzo di distrazione nel tempo libero e come abbellimento nei giorni di festa. Anche nella Chiesa, tradizionalmente portatrice della cultura — a causa dell’interdipendenza tra la cultura e il culto — la musica sembra fungere come “lo zucchero a velo sulla torta” piuttosto che “lievito del pane”, cioè espressione genuina della fede.

Franco Molinari – Church and World in Don Bosco’s “Storia Ecclesiastica” in «Don Bosco’s place in history»

Don Bosco in his book “Ecclesiastical History” talks about the Church and the World and their bond, which over the centuries has been very tortuous. Unlike the “fundamentalist” conservatives, Don Bosco had a clear vision of the reality that surrounded him and this awareness was not due to his studies in the historical field, but to his ability to know how to read the present.

Juan Maria Laboa – Don Bosco’s experience and sense of the Church in «Don Bosco’s place in history»

Juan M. Laboa in his paper focuses mainly on Don Bosco’s image of the Church, the only place where the teachings of Jesus are preserved in their entirety. Don Bosco believed that this Church (and not the Protestant one) is the only one that can bring people closer to God and that instilling love and devotion to the Pope helps to counter religious sects and dissidents.
